Madison Weinstock

Overview

Madison Weinstock is a Psychology Trainee in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at VCU Health. She is also a doctoral candidate in counselling psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University. Weinstock's research focuses on eating disorders, weight management, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on perinatal women.

Education

Weinstock received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology Summa Cum Laude from Texas Christian University, where she was a Division 1 Track and Cross Country Athlete. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Counselling Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Career

Weinstock has held various positions at Virginia Commonwealth University, including Program Assistant, Practicum Student, Graduate Teaching Assistant, and Research Assistant. She has also worked as an Assessment Specialist at the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU.

• Perinatal meaning-making and coping strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic, exploring the experiences of pregnant and postpartum women.
• College students' perceptions of individuals following popular diets and those with Orthorexia Nervosa, investigating the influence of social media and the role of Reddit as a support platform for mothers.
• Validation of the Sociocultural Influences on Fear of Fat Scale (SI-FAT) and its reliability in measuring fear of fat within diverse samples of college women.
• Evaluation of the factor structures and measurement invariance of the Eating Disorder Examination-Questionnaire (EDE-Q) in diverse samples of American university men.
• Exploration of the experiences of perinatal women during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the increased responsibilities of mothers in managing children's pandemic health behaviours.
• Understanding fear of fat across diverse racial and ethnic identities, with a focus on representation in eating disorder research.
