Mark Rowland
Biography
Mark Robert Rowland (b. 7 March 1963) is a retired British distance runner who specialised in the 3000m steeplechase. He won a bronze medal in the 1988 Olympics and came second in the 1990 European Championships. After retiring, Rowland became a coach for UK Athletics and has trained several notable athletes.
Research
Rowland's research interests include medical entomology and vector-borne disease control, with a focus on malaria. He is based in London but has research interests in East and West Africa and South Asia. He is the coordinator of PAMVERC, a group of overseas field sites that collaborates with national research institutes on vector control and malaria prevention.
