Michal Valko is a research scientist and lecturer with a background in machine learning and artificial intelligence. With a focus on reducing human supervision in algorithmic processes, Valko's work has spanned academia and industry, including collaborations with Adobe, Intel, Technicolor, and Microsoft Research.
Valko received his PhD in Machine Learning from the University of Pittsburgh in 2011, under the supervision of Miloš Hauskrecht. He then went on to complete a post-doctorate program under Rémi Munos.

Valko's primary research interest lies in designing algorithms that require minimal human supervision. To achieve this, he works with methods and settings that can function with minimal feedback, such as deep reinforcement learning, bandit algorithms, self-supervised learning, and self-play.
