Yuri Burda
Yuri Burda is a researcher and associate professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology at Belgorod State University. He also works at the Center of Cell Technologies Biruch, GC EFKO. Burda's research focuses on regenerative medicine, cellular therapy, cancer research, and clinical immunology.
Education

- Exploration by Random Network Distillation: This paper introduces an exploration bonus for deep reinforcement learning methods, making it easier to implement and adding minimal overhead to computation.
- Importance Weighted Autoencoders: The paper proposes a generative model with the same architecture as VAE but using a strictly tighter log-likelihood lower bound derived from importance weighting.
- Large-Scale Study of Curiosity-Driven Learning: The first large-scale study of purely curiosity-driven learning across 54 standard benchmark environments, including the Atari game suite, showing surprisingly good performance.
- Continuous Adaptation via Meta-Learning in Nonstationary and Competitive Environments: This paper develops a simple gradient-based meta-learning algorithm suitable for adaptation in dynamically changing and adversarial scenarios.
- On the Quantitative Analysis of Decoder-Based Generative Models: The work proposes using Annealed Importance Sampling for evaluating log-likelihoods for decoder-based models and analyzes the performance of decoded models and the effectiveness of existing log-likelihood estimators.
- Grokking: Generalization Beyond Overfitting on Small Algorithmic Datasets: This paper discusses the generalization of over-parameterized neural networks beyond memorization of finite training datasets.
- Accurate and conservative estimates of MRF log-likelihood using reverse annealing: This work presents experimental results indicating that RAISE closely agrees with AIS log-probability estimates for RBMs, DBMs, and DBNs, often underestimating rather than overestimating the log-likelihood.
